Melaka Training Camp: Day 12 Last day

Day 12

Finally it was the last day of the training camp! We are joining the Melaka boys as well as the uncles for a ride to Gunung Datok one last time before saying goodbye. I was too tired and I just wanted to have a nice last ride with the boys. I thought the pace today was a little too fast for my comfort, partly because the uncles were a bit disruptive in their pace making (either pulling at threshold at the front or attacking the bunch). Everyone became very nervous when they are at the front, going hard when they hit the hills. As a result, the pace today was very irregular. I did 3 sets at Gunung Datok before calling quits. Didn't really want to do too much and too hard today anyway. So I stopped at the top and chit chat with the uncles while they rest of the boys continued their sets. Soon, we headed down for makan and minum before starting our journey back to Melaka. The pace was again irregular and to my relieve, Fairoz stepped in and told the guys to maintain their steady effort. I also told the boys to go steady and let the uncles attack if they want to go. Sean was the stronger rider in Melaka but a waste that he does not know how to control his efforts, always pulling hard at the front forcing the pace. In the end Fairoz tried to control him by asking him to go to the front to pull steady with Travis. But he still couldn't ride along with the group, always half wheeling in front of Travis. So Fairoz asked me to go to the front to partner Travis instead. Then Sean went ahead to break off from the pack. Travis then went on to complain about Sean, blah blah blah... :)

When we reached our hotel it was already 2plus and Ryan's parents had waited for us for almost 2hours. We rushed up to wash up and quickly packed our stuff then came down to check out. We loaded up our bikes and stuffs in no time and went for Sup Lembu one last time. Full and tired, we slept in the car on the journey back to Singapore..

Last day and end of a wonderful training camp in Melaka, but definitely not the last time. I'll be back in Melaka for more and to ride with the Melaka boys again. Hopefully, when Im back they will be very strong and ready to kick my ass! ;) I have made many wonderful friends in Malaysia this trip and I hope to see them again soon in the near future. I am very grateful to coach Fairoz for organising all the training rides and settling all the admin for the KL race trip. I think he is a fantastic coach, knowlegeable, understanding, humorous and most importantly, he is always there with the boys. I believe with him as the coach for the Melaka team, the boys will become very strong in no time! Special thanks also to Loi, who fixed up my bike FOC after my crash, and also bringing us out for nice meals together with Nash. Lastly, I would really like to thank Bikelabz for giving me this opportunity to go up for this training camp. All these wouldn't happen if not for Bikelabz. Now it's time for business...

Giving thank you speech and final goodbye!
