Hi everyone!
So this is my new blog. Previously i had another blog under livejournal.com but it was deleted because i no longer use it. So here i am setting up a new one since today is Deepavali holiday and I was kind of bored! I guess it's a fresh start.. :)
Here's a brief introduction of myself. My name is Lau Jun Jie Kerry. I am 23 years old this year and I have been living in Singapore all my life. I love it here as everything is very efficient, very safe, no natural disasters, beautiful environment, nice tropical weather... Perfecto! Right now I am into my 3rd year of Mechanical Engineering in NUS, and i cannot wait to get that piece of paper at the end of my 4th year, just so that i could embark on my journey of becoming a full time cyclist! Oh yes, my love for cycling started 4 years ago, when i bought myself a second hand road bike and rode to camp every week during army days. Since then, i got hooked onto it and my passion grew with each ride. From that moment everything about me changed. My goals in life, the way i view things, my priorities... Bike riding has become a lifestyle for me. Everything i do, i have to take into consideration time for my trainings. I could say i have put in much sacrifice into it and i cannot imagine what i would do without it. I'd be lost, without any goals, any purpose.
I am one of the fortunate ones in Singapore to be able to get some form of sponsorship (bikes, equipment, race fees) through racing for Team Fuji Singapore. Special thanks to Fuji bikes, Limar helmets, Lintaman shoes, Monotine bikeshop and Brandon Teo! 2010 was a disaster year for me. This year isn't too bad, Im feeling much stronger on the bike and the team is getting better. The highlight of the year was definitely getting into the break with Junaidi with 5 laps to go during the National Championships. With Tour de Bintan still to come, and possibly even UCI Tour de Lake Poyang on the cards, that would end my 2011 season on a high! A good performance there could open up doors for me in the following year, when i hope to go one up by racing in more UCI races around Asia. Because these are what i need if i want to be able to go full time 2 years later when i graduate.
Alrighty! I guess this is all for now. I will be updating my blog regularly with posts of my life, trainings, races, issues and ongoings that are significant and post-worthy! Watch this space... ;)
my guess is i think you took about an hour to write this =P
